If you'd like to see the data used to create a visualisation, you can export that data to Excel as an .xlsx or .csv file. All visuals within the Quantum BI Analytics report can be exported to Excel as an .xlsx or .csv file.

Step-by-step instructions on how to export data from PowerBI to Excel

1. Select More actions (...) from the upper-right corner of the visualisation:

2. Select the ellipsis in the upper-right corner of the visualisation. Select Export data:

Screenshot of the upper-right corner with the ellipsis button and the Export data option called out.

You will have two options when exporting

  • Summarised data: This type of export shows you only the data (columns and measures) that are being used to create the visual. If the visual has an aggregate, you'll export aggregated data. For example, if you have a bar chart showing four bars, you'll get four rows of Excel data
  • Underlying data:  Select this option if you want to see the data in the visual and additional data from the dataset. If your visualisation has an aggregate, selecting this option removes the aggregate.

We recommend exporting summarised data as this will provide you with the information contained within the visualisation.

3. From Export data, select Summarised data, either choose .xlsx or .csv, and then select Export:

4. When you select Export, your browser will either automatically save the data in your Downloads folder or prompt you to save the file. Once saved, open the file in Excel.
